Maine Staycation Pond

DOVER, MASSACHUSETTS

About the Project

Before building this water feature, clients Paul & Sarah would frequently drive up to their vacation home in Maine and recharge in nature. However, that started to change after we completed this project in 2020 and brought nature to their doorstep. The feature starts off with two gentle 10-foot tributaries that converge in an 8-by-14-foot koi pond. From there, the water flows beneath a 1,000lb stone-slab bridge and becomes a stronger torrent: cascading an additional 35 feet down the hillside between mossy boulders (some of which weigh over 4,000lbs!).

  • At the bottom of the feature, we installed a 2,000-gallon reservoir that’s designed to keep everything running 365 days a year – even through the coldest nights in January and the driest weeks in August. To fill the reservoir, the feature relies primarily on recycled rainwater captured by the home’s downspouts, that redirect rain from the roof into the feature. While having a landscape that looks this natural is amazing, having it work symbiotically with nature to reduce maintenance is even better.

IN OUR CLIENTS’ WORDS

“Our new water feature transformed our yard and exceeded our expectations. We were impressed throughout the process, but blown away by the final product. For anyone considering adding a water feature, you should consider FallingWater Scapes. Jonathan is a true craftsman.”
