Mountain Top Pond

SQUAMISH, BRITISH COLUMBIA

About the Project

This uniquely scenic pond served as my 2016 undergraduate thesis project at Quest University. During my time at Quest, I had also interned with Master Certified Aquascape Contractor, Marcel Koller of Streamworks Designs, where I learned the techniques and skill needed to create this serene pond on the school’s campus. I crowdsourced money for the project from the student body and negotiated material discounts with local suppliers..

  • Now nestled between the main academic buildings and student residences, the Quest Pond sits beautifully as a campus keystone and provides an area of rest and relaxation for students, staff, and visitors. Professors have been known to move their classes outdoors for readings and exercises around the popular pond.

IN THE WORDS OF THE SCHOOL

“It is a lovely feature located at the base of the southwestern corner of our primary academic building and is truly one of our campus’ nicest spaces. Given how this process went for us–from the care and attention given to the proposal at the outset, throughout the construction, to the final touches and attention paid to the future operating of the pond–I would gladly ask Jonathan to do this again.”

— Ryan Derby-Talbot, former Vice President of Quest
