Front Door Bubblers

ARLINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS

About the Project

Mike reached out to us in 2018 to build a fountain in his front yard. While curb appeal was part of his motivation, the driving force behind this project was to create a water source for the birds. Given that birds prefer slower moving water (for the most part), we chose bubbling boulders where the water evenly trickled over all sides. To create some added interest, we picked out three substantial rocks–all with varying heights–and arranged them in a way that formed a small pooling area in the middle.

The birds frequent this feature so much that Mike has set up a camera on a tripod in his living room–snapping shots of his feathered visitors from inside! In addition to seeing the camera ourselves when we came back to build his backyard waterfalls in 2021, Mike also emails pictures to us from time to time!

IN MIKE’S WORDS

“I most like how it fits in so well in its context as an inviting and dynamic space at the entry to my home. Even several years after the installation, I am surprised at the little burst of pleasure and satisfaction I experience when I get home and walk by it.”
